Show Cause Submission Form

Semester 2, 2024

Please make sure that you have read your Invitation to Show Cause email carefully, as it contains important information and links.

The Show Cause submission is your opportunity to provide us with information regarding your situation, how your study has been affected, and what steps you plan to take for improvement in future semesters.

This is an important step and allows the panel to fully consider your capacity to continue studying at RMIT. Before you start your submission, visit the Show Cause Submission page for information and support on how to prepare your submission.

You can also contact RUSU for assistance in preparing your submission.

Do you want to meet with the Program Assessment Board?

In addition to submitting your Show Cause, you may also request to meet with the Program Assessment Board (PAB), to support your submission.

Please email guss.academicprogress@rmit.edu.au before your Show Cause submission deadline, to request a time to meet with the panel.

Show Cause Submission

The submission is constructed of 2 parts:

Firstly, we would like to hear an explanation of the reasons for your Unsatisfactory academic performance, including what happened and how it affected your study this semester.

Then we want to know what steps you will take for improvement, that includes future plans for study, how you will seek assistance and support, and any suggestions for how we can help.

Please provide as much detail as possible in the sections below.

We do also require supporting documentation to support your claims, and strongly encourage you to provide a personal statement with any further background and explanation to support your submission.

Note - All personal information will be treated as Confidential

Please provide detailed dot points explaining the issues you have faced and the impacts this has had on your study.

Please outline any academic issues and how they have impacted your study.

Please outline any personal issues that you may have experienced and how they impacted your study. (For example health, financial, family, living arrangements, work)

Ensure you provide evidence to support your submission where possible. Refer to the RMIT Show Cause submission pages using the links at the top of this form for more information.
