I'm interested in the 2024 Citizen Bond Oversight Committee

What is the purpose of the Citizen Bond Oversight Committee?

Durango School District 9-R Ballot Issue 4A: Investing In Our Schools passed by a large margin on Nov. 5, 2024. This bond will bring much-needed improvements to our schools, enhancing facilities, safety, and learning environments for all students. Thank you to our community for your support and commitment to quality education. We’re excited to move forward together!

The 2024 Citizen Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) is a group of volunteers who make sure Durango School District's bond funds are spent as promised.

CBOC volunteers do not need to have children who attend Durango School District, but they must live in La Plata County. They track spending, review project progress, and ensure the district follows through on plans approved by voters. Their role is to keep everything on budget, on schedule, and transparent for the community.

Please share your contact information below, and we will reach out to you about meeting dates and times. If you have questions prior to filling out the form, please email ccoleman@durangoschools.org.

What are the benefits of serving on the committee?

  • Shape the future of local education: Provide input on critical decisions impacting schools, students, and the community.

  • Ensure accountability: Monitor how bond funds are spent and ensure transparency in school district projects.

  • Gain insight: Learn about district operations, budgeting, and long-term planning.

  • Build community connections: Collaborate with district leaders and other engaged citizens.

  • Make a lasting impact: Influence projects that improve education, facilities, and opportunities for future generations.

  • Enhance personal skills: Develop leadership, strategic planning, and advocacy skills.
