The Okanogan Conservation District is happy to provide chipping services for Inchelium, Keller, & Nespelem. These events are in partnership with the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation & Ferry Conservation District.
Please fill out this form if you live in one of the following communities and wish to participate in the community chipping event:
- May 12: Inchelium
- May 13: Keller
- May 14: Nespelem
Please sign up by May 11th to ensure we have adequate time to prepare
This will be a mobile event, meaning the chipper will stop along the roadside to chip your materials. The woodchips from the Omak event will be hauled away and available for pickup at Omak Eastside Park. The woodchips from the Okanogan event will be hauled away and available for pickup at the American Legion Park. These woodchips are available for free, for anyone to use.
Guidelines and restrictions:
- All material must be stacked at the end of driveway or placed in an accessible location for personnel to perform the chipping.
** Please have piles ready by 8 am on the day of your event.
- Only woody material (branches, tree limbs, bushes, etc.) can be chipped. No leaves, pine needles, trash, or other material. Material left in sacks or bags will not be chipped.
- Stack piles so that the cut/butt ends of limbs, sticks, etc. are facing outward toward the road.
- Material should not be tied together or otherwise bounded up. Tying material together slows the chipping crew down, and loose rope, string, or wire can jam up equipment.
- Logs/branches must be no longer than 6 feet and no wider than 10 inches.
- No root balls or other material with large quantities of dirt.
- Bitterbrush is difficult to chip and can dull blades, please minimize its placement in piles. If you want it to be chipped, it must be cut, not pulled, from the ground.
