General Education Requirement Proposal

Due Dates

Please submit your application by September 15 for courses offered the following spring and by February 1 for courses offered the following fall.

Instructions

This form is for St. Edward's faculty submitting their course to be certified as fulfilling a specific General Education requirement. To fill out this form you will need a current syllabus, information on our how course aligns with requirement student learning outcomes, and email addresses for you chair and dean.

If you do not see the requirement for which you wish to propose a course in the drop-down menu below, you will likely need to contact the appropriate requirement chair directly. More information about this process can be found here.

After you submit this form, it will be sent to your chair and dean for approval. On their approval, your application will be sent to the appropriate requirement coordinators for review. You will receive an automatic notification when a decision has been made. The General Education webpage (linked above) includes a list of these coordinators, should you have questions as you prepare your proposal.

(Keep in mind that if a course meets the requirements for two of the non-Mission Marker requirements, students will only be able to earn one of these credits for the course. For example, a course may be approved from Global Perspectives and Exploring Artistic Works, but each student would need to pick one of these and two cross-listed sections would need to be created.)
